YOUR EVERYDAY NETWORK
Privacy and your choices
UKTransit.live is an independent project operated by SK Leung. This page describes the public website as configured on 21 October 2026.
Map and hosting
Your browser sends technical requests to Cloudflare, which hosts the site and protects its transport gateway. Requests include network information such as your IP address. Map tiles and some transport information are requested from external providers; those providers receive the technical information needed to answer the request. See sources and coverage.
Language, map settings and favourites may be saved in browser storage so they work on later visits. If you choose browser geolocation, the browser asks permission; the map uses that position for the requested feature. We do not intentionally send exact coordinates, favourites, search terms or selected vehicle identifiers to our analytics.
Optional Google Analytics
Google Analytics 4 is loaded only after you select Accept analytics. It helps measure visits to the public pages and broad map engagement. Advertising signals and personalised advertising are disabled. We send a page address without query parameters or fragments, and do not deliberately send your name, email, home or work location. Google may process technical and pseudonymous usage information outside the UK under its applicable safeguards. See Google's privacy policy.
Rejecting analytics leaves the map available. Your choice is honoured on this browser for up to six months. Use the Analytics choices section below to change it. Withdrawing consent stops analytics and removes accessible Google Analytics and Clarity cookies on this domain; it does not erase data already received by Google or Microsoft. Browser or Google privacy controls may provide additional options.
Cloudflare and session recordings
Cloudflare provides security and basic hosting diagnostics. Its optional browser analytics beacon is suppressed by this site's response setting. Microsoft Clarity is loaded only after you select Accept analytics. It provides heatmaps and masked session recordings to help us understand confusing controls and improve the site. Page content is explicitly masked, including search and favourites content; we do not add personal user identifiers. Clarity may collect interaction, device and technical usage information and use first-party cookies. Advertising storage consent is denied. We avoid loading Clarity on pages whose address includes query parameters or fragments. Microsoft may process information outside the UK under its applicable safeguards. See Microsoft’s privacy statement and Clarity privacy information.
Questions and data requests
For UK data protection information and your rights, including access, objection and complaints, see the Information Commissioner's Office. For questions or a data request, contact contact@uktransit.live. Please avoid entering personal details in the map.
Who is responsible and why we use information
SK Leung is the data controller for this independent, personal, non-commercial project. Contact contact@uktransit.live about privacy or your rights.
We rely on consent for optional Google Analytics measurement and Microsoft Clarity heatmaps and masked session recordings. We rely on legitimate interests to deliver and secure the requested map, prevent abuse, and answer correspondence: our interests are keeping this free information service working and responding to people who contact us. Where we must process information to comply with a legal obligation, that obligation is the basis. Browser permission is requested separately before geolocation is used; you can revoke that permission in your browser.
There is no account or requirement to provide a name or email to use the map. Necessary network requests still disclose technical information to the services answering them. If you email us, we receive your address and message. Cloudflare routes that email to our Google-hosted mailbox. Please do not send sensitive information unless necessary for your request.
Cookies, browser storage and retention
Cookies and local or session storage are different ways of saving information in your browser. The following describes this site's controls and known technologies; vendor and browser limits may shorten cookie lifetimes.
- Analytics choice:
uktransit.analytics-consent.v2 - First-party local storage remembers acceptance or refusal for 183 days. The website disregards an expired choice; optional analytics stays off until accepted again. You can remove the record by clearing site storage.
- Map preferences and favourites
gmtraffic-language,uktransit-map-theme-v1,uktransit-lines-v1,uktransit-favourites-v1anduktransit-view-v1remember language, theme, visible lines, saved items and map view on this browser. Persistent entries remain until overwritten or you clear this site's data. A saved vehicle selection is reused only on the same London date and for up to six hours. These preferences are not deliberately sent to Google Analytics or Clarity.- Transport caches
gmtraffic-*-snapshotlocal-storage entries anduktransit.london.snapshots.v1session storage help restore public transport data. Reuse depends on source freshness; this is not a promise of deletion at the freshness cutoff. Session storage normally lasts for the tab's session; local entries can remain until overwritten or cleared.- Google Analytics:
_ga,_ga_* - Optional first-party cookies distinguish browsers and sessions after acceptance. Google's documented default expiry is two years, subject to browser limits and settings. Cookie life is different from server-side retention. This property's read-back settings on 21 October 2026 are two months for event data and fourteen months for user data, with reset on new activity enabled. Aggregated reports are not governed by those same limits. See Google's cookie information and retention information.
- Microsoft Clarity:
_clck,_clsk - Optional first-party cookies associate a browser and connect page views into a session after acceptance. The currently tested SDK sets _clck for one year and _clsk for one day, subject to browser limits. Microsoft also documents third-party cookies in its cookie list. This site denies advertising-storage consent. Microsoft's current recording policy is thirty days, with favourites and selected samples retained for up to nine months; it is not a universal thirty-day deletion promise. See recording retention. Browser cookie expiry and Microsoft's data retention are separate.
Clear cookies and site data for uktransit.live in your browser to remove local preferences and caches. This also removes the remembered analysis choice. Reject optional analytics below to withdraw consent; the map remains available. Clearing this browser does not erase information already held by a provider.
Other retention and transfers
We retain correspondence for handling the enquiry and any necessary follow-up, dispute or legal obligation; retention depends on the nature and status of the matter. We do not create a separate visitor account database. Worker request logging is disabled, but that does not disable Cloudflare's own security processing or other providers' logs. See Cloudflare's privacy information. Google, Microsoft, Cloudflare and external transport or map providers may process information outside the UK. You can contact us for information about the applicable arrangements and safeguards; provider privacy links are supplied above. Masking and pseudonymous identifiers do not necessarily make data anonymous.
Your data protection rights
Depending on the processing and applicable conditions, you can request access, correction, erasure, restriction or data portability. You may withdraw analytics consent at any time without affecting earlier lawful processing. You have the right to object to processing based on legitimate interests. Email the contact address above to exercise these rights. We may need proportionate information to verify a request; please do not send identity documents unless requested.
You may complain to the Information Commissioner's Office, including if you are dissatisfied with our response: telephone 0303 123 1113, Wycliffe House, Water Lane, Wilmslow, Cheshire SK9 5AF. Our map does not make solely automated decisions about people with legal or similarly significant effects.
