What the map can tell you
UKTransit.live combines transport information from multiple sources. Availability differs by network, mode, service and time. The map does not promise complete coverage of every UK route or vehicle.
Reported, estimated and unavailable positions
- Source-reported position
- A position supplied by an available source. Check its update time: it may already be older than the current time.
- Estimated position
- A position calculated from available departure, arrival, timetable or progress information. It is an estimate along a route, not a GPS observation.
- Animation
- Movement between data updates helps you follow a service visually. Animation does not increase the frequency or accuracy of the source observations.
- Interrupted or stale source
- The latest usable data is missing or too old. An icon may be held or removed. This alone is not a cancellation announcement.
Sources and attribution
The selected service and source details within the map provide the relevant feed status. Depending on the network, information may originate from Transport for London open data, TfGM, rail information providers, Translink, ferry operators or aggregated bus information including bustimes.org. These links identify sources and operators; they do not imply endorsement or affiliation.
Map tiles and geographical data are credited within the map, including OpenStreetMap contributors. Route geometry and stop coverage may differ from live vehicle coverage.
Before making a travel decision
Check the operator's official service status and departure information. UKTransit.live is independent, and is not an official journey planner, ticket retailer or emergency information service.
Using this information
This is a free, independent information project. We aim to present useful information, but do not guarantee continuous availability, complete coverage, error-free data or a particular arrival time. Sources can be delayed or change; calculated positions and animations are estimates. Check the operator's current information and station or stop announcements before travelling. This website does not sell tickets or create a transport booking.
